When I opened the charger and unwound the cord, the black wire coating near the charger box cracked open, exposing the wires, but this might not have been so much a problem with a faulty product as with moving it too quickly when it had been twist-tied in that position for a long time and from being more brittle from the package sitting outside in the cold. I contacted the seller through Amazon, and within a day they got back to me and said they would mail me a new charger for free, and I didn't even have to ship my broken one back. The new charger arrived three days later, so I am very satisfied with the level of service offered to me by the seller. They stated a 30-day money back guarantee and a year warranty.
I have only had the charger for a day, but it seems to work fine with my HP DV6-1230us laptop. I had to look at my old charger to see that I needed a 65W replacement, which is what this is (many other chargers in the search results are 90W). I would recommend letting it sit inside a few hours before opening it if your package sat outside in the winter, and stretching the cords straight very slowly while unwrapping them for the first time to avoid the black coating from cracking.
