(More customer reviews)This is a combination power outage, night light, and battery charger all in one. It comes with 2xAA 2000mAH and 2xAAA 750 mAH NiMH batteries, both made in China, so it is a decent deal, especially if you can get it on sale. It charges only 2 or 4 at a time, and will not do NiCd's. It takes 8 hours to charge, during which the green LED is on. When done, the LED's go off, and it switches to trickle charge, and you can leave the NiMH's in it for as long as you want. I like and use it, but it has few odd things about it:
* you must have 4 batteries in it for the power failure feature to work, so you will have to buy more NiMH's: a set is always in the charger and you swap it out with the weak cells that need charging.
* if you accidentally kick it or unplug it while charging, I would be willing to bet that it resets the timer and you could overcharge the batteries
* the instructions do not list what the current is during charge or trickle (I am curious about this, but do not know how to measure it)
* during charge, the batteries get warm, so leave the plastic door open, and close it again once the LED goes off and it switches to trickle
* the night light feature can be turned on or off with a switch (the light sensor is located in the switch: in the 'on' position, the sensor is uncovered).
*I have not had it long enough to verify the efficacy of the `trickle' mode
